Hi! My name is Arizona shanahan. I am 16 years old. I’m currently a sophomore at Hayfork High School and have lived here in Hayfork since I was a baby. I have spent the past year and a half (roughly) going through the process of becoming a foreign exchange student through Rotary International. I was accepted to the program and I will be going to Taiwan in August! I will be spending my entire junior year there attending school and living with a host family as well as participating in their local rotary club and fulfilling my role as an ambassador of peace, which is a core goal of Rotary International. I still have many tasks to complete and preparations to make which include some things that are quite costly, including overnight trips to multiple orientations, language tutors, my passport and other travel necessities, and more. While the core costs of my exchange have been paid for by both my family and Weaverville Rotary Club it’s up to my family and I to cover the remainder of the expenses leading up to my departure as well as during my exchange year.
