The Arizona Martial Arts Elite Competition Team, based out of Scottsdale Martial Arts Center and Chandler Martial Arts Center in Arizona, is celebrating a remarkable achievement: six of our athletes have earned spots on the US National Team for Karate. Emilio, 16, is returning for his second year as the top-ranked athlete in his division, having placed 5th at the world championships last year. Brianna, 13, made her elite debut this year and secured the second spot on the US Team after returning to karate with renewed determination. Phoebe, 15, is a dedicated competitor and mentor at our dojo, earning a bronze medal and a place on the team in her first elite season. Marzella, also 15, transitioned to Olympic-style karate just a year ago and quickly made her mark, medaling at the US Open and Nationals to join the US Team. Vivina, 13, showed incredible commitment by earning a bronze medal and a team spot in her first elite tournament, all while teaching and training nearly every day. Joshua, 20, is our most seasoned athlete, with three years on the US Team and extensive international experience.
This summer, Emilio and Brianna will represent the US at the Panamerican Championships in Asuncion, Paraguay, while Phoebe, Marzella, Vivina, and Joshua will compete at the K1 Youth League in Monterrey, Mexico—the highest level of competition outside of the world championships. These tournaments are happening soon, with Monterrey scheduled for the 7th-10th and Paraguay from the 27th-31st, making this a critical time for our team. The funds raised will help cover travel and hotel expenses for our athletes and ensure they have their coaches by their side. Sensei Christian and Sensei Joeffrey will be supporting the team in Mexico, and we hope to have Sensei Christian in Paraguay as well, depending on the support we receive. Every contribution helps these dedicated athletes pursue their dreams and represent our community and country on the international stage.
