Our baby sister Ari is one of the most brilliant and talented people that we know. She has a passion for musical theater, whether she is performing or watching them; some of her favorites including Hamilton, Chicago and Grease. She is a phenomenal illustrator and possesses diverse artistic talents including photography, ballet, and playing various instruments.
A few weeks ago Ari succumbed to the overwhelming burden of navigating depression and anxiety among starting high school and all of the pressure to assimilate and fit in. As a result she suffered a tragic incident, requiring life saving measures like ventilators and dialysis to restore her body when she could not alone. Though our small, close-knit family has been spread out across the country for the past few years, this difficult incident brought us back together. It was absolutely terrifying to think that we could have lost her, but through our faith, science and the support of a loving community, Ari has been given a second chance.
Ari’s recovery will require both inpatient and outpatient care for the foreseeable future. As Ari's journey continues, we will continue to wrap our arms around her in love and support. But she also need you, “Ari's Avengers!” We are gratefully requesting support for Ari’s medical expenses from the last 3 weeks, as well her future treatment, to ensure that she receives all of the professional help she needs going forward. Thank you for your support of Ari and our family during this difficult time.
What we need now:
We haven't received any of the bills from the hospital, however based on publicly available information and that the services we received were outside of our network, we estimate incurring costs related to the following:
-Emergency medical technicians
-Ambulance services
-Emergency room visit: Marin General Hospital
-Ambulatory airlift to UCSF
-8 days in the ICU at UCSF (intubation, dialysis, CT pet scans, MRI, diagnostic tests)
-10 days under inpatient psychiatric evaluation at UCSF
-continued therapeutic care
We are working and advocating for a step down program or inpatient care services through an alternative academy.
As costs are confirmed, we will update this page.
We have been conservative in our estimations knowing that your financial gift is being made in good faith.
