Help Arielle audition in Europe!
Hey everyone,
I am finally putting myself out there and auditioning for Young Artist Programs, operates groups, companies, festivals, and entering competitions. However, with my current job in Barcelona it is impossible to pay for all expenses (ie application fees, pianists, coaches, lessons, flights, and accommodation) for this. (For example, a month's worth of lessons is around 300 euros. If I do 2 auditions a month, that's around 400 euros in flights ...)
If you are able to donate just a small amount so I could follow my dream, I I would not only be grateful to you, but I will keep you personally updated on my progress throughout this journey and afterwards in my musical pursuits. And of course, I will pledge to continue to work hard and never give up.
A little bit of history:
Since I was born, I apparently loved experimenting with the volume and power of my voice.
One of the first CDs I ever bought was Vivaldi arias, with which I fell in absolute love. I loved how people were able to use their voices to create such beauty at such a loud volume, without any microphones. I joined my church choir and got told to sing quieter.
Soon after, I joined the middle school choir (where I was still told to sing quieter) only so I could compete in the district only competitions for classical music. I won first place.
At 13, I auditioned for the theater magnet at Richardson High School and got in. At our end-of-the-year Thespian banquet, a senior graduate gave a speech about finding your passion. He said, "If you have a passion, you are one of the luckiest people in the world." "Never let it go." "Pursue that passion with all your heart, because you were given a gift." I cried during his speech because I knew what my passion was.
When it was time to make a final decision on what I wanted to major in college at 16 years old, I had to choose between architecture, environmental engineering, and vocal performance. I was president and founder of the environmental club, winning classical and jazz music competitions, singing and playing lead in the musicals and plays at school, taking voice and piano lessons every week, and drawing blueprints in my free time. But I was encouraged by my parents to follow my heart, and I'm so happy I did.
Opera has not only shown me what I can do with my voice naturally, but has taught me the importance of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and believing in myself. During my time majoring in music, I encountered many set-backs that normally would have been enough to make me quit this pursuit altogether. But I've continued to work hard, never letting the opinions of others be the reason I stop.
Through my hard work I have gotten some auditions that I have been invited to, but they are not free. Unfortunately, my current job will not be enough to fund the application fees, coaching and lesson fees, flights, and accommodation for these auditions. I am also participating in the many competitions I can physically do with the hope of getting connections and job opportunities this way, but I also have to travel for these.
I'm hoping to get some help through GoFundMe to get to where I want to be, and I would honestly be appreciative to anyone willing to help me, no matter how small the donation.
Because I want to audition for every opportunity that is available and make as many auditions and competitions as possible until I get a job somewhere, I will have to travel a lot. I am asking for enough to cover the costs of the audition and competition application fees, flights, and accommodation for around six months of auditions.
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart to everyone who will donate to my dreams and make it more possible for me to achieve them. This will be a long road, but I know that with your support I will not be alone.
- Arielle Carrara
My goal is to audition for every opportunity and compete in every competition that is appropriate for me. I am physically able to do. With your help, I want to sing 1-2 auditions and competitions a month until I get an offer for a contract in an opera company in Europe.
Here's to finally putting myself out there!
