On August 1st 2025 my 3 day old suffered a cardiac arrest. She was rushed to hospital where she was intubated and placed on a cooling pad to prevent organ failure and put on a brain monitor. At this time I was told she had minimal brain activity and wasn’t excepted to survive. 5 days later she went for her first MRI which showed she has severe brain damage causing Cerebral Palsy. She stayed intubated for 27 days as she wasn’t making the progress expected of her. She suffered from seizures and struggles with NG feeds. On September 1st she was placed on an NJ tube. After one week post extubation she fell unwell and started having seizures again and had to be intubated again. At this time we were told she’ll never orally feed, speak or walk and if she had to get intubated one more time care would have to stop. She then got extubated onto CPAP and then down to high flow. She has no gag reflex and can’t suck or swallow leading to excess saliva causing airway blockages. Yesterday on October 23rd she was transferred to a different hospital and suffered a severe cardiac episode which required CPR. They are now discussing surgery options to remove her saliva glands to try and protect her airways and stop the excessive saliva. She still has a very long and hard road ahead of her despite all the progress and will need a lot of medical assistance and equipment to ensure she’s comfortable and can be properly cared for. Funds will be used to help prepare equipment in the home and get all her medical things she’ll need in future.
