On Monday, 3/6 Christopher and Kristin had 2 year-old Aria checked out on base for a distension in her abdomen. They x-rayed her and with the limited distinction, they saw what appeared to be an abnormally sized liver (roughly 3x normal size). They were sent to Mercy Children's hospital in Kansas City. They did an ultrasound and have found a mass, about the size of a softball, but were unsure if it was on her liver, or something next to it. After an MRI on Wednesday, they diagnosed Aria with stage 3 liver cancer. Chemo treatments for Aria begin Friday, 3/10.
This little Espino family is currently living in Knob Noster, Missouri where Chris is stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base. Their immediate family all lives in California. Mercy Children's hospital is 2 hours away from their home. It's very difficult to walk through this at all, worse to be far from support. Please pray for all of them as they begin this journey far from home.
