Ariah’s Scoliosis Surgery

Hi Friends and Family,

After years of contending with severe scoliosis, I've decided to undergo surgery on June 26th. The 10 hour procedure is a specialized hybrid fusion, involving both rod fusion for the thoracic curve and ASC (anterior scoliosis correction) for the lumbar curve. This surgery requires us to travel to New York, and the surgery would be at Mt. Sinai with Dr. Baron Lonner and his accompanying thoracic surgeon.

To manage the financial aspect of this surgery, Dylan and I are trying to secure loans to cover the majority of the expenses, which hopefully include the medical fees and our accommodation in New York for the two-week duration of the surgery and initial recovery period. Professionally, as I will need to take a 2-3 month hiatus from my work as a tattoo artist, our financial strain is further compounded. Dylan will also be taking leave to provide the necessary support during my recovery phase, particularly as I rehabilitate and regain mobility.

Given the complexity of the surgery and the associated costs, particularly with it being out of state, we are seeking financial assistance to help with the amount of debt we will have. I am required to have all surgery costs paid for no less than three weeks out from surgery. This will all be a huge financial undertaking which would be impossible without help on top of taking out large loans.

The decision to proceed with this surgery comes after enduring escalating daily pain that non-surgical interventions can no longer adequately manage. We are humbly requesting any support you can offer, be it financial or simply sharing our story with others. Every contribution will significantly alleviate the financial burden and allow us to focus on a successful recovery.
