My name is Kathleen, and I am fundraising for Ariah Mayard, the daughter of my coworker/teammate Yaniery Mayard.
Ariah arrived during an uncertain time on October 31, 2020, with her twin sister Adriana. She joined her big brothers, who are now 8 and 5. Everything seemed normal up until three months when they started noticing a delay that grew further. Doctors reassured them it often happens with twins, and they left it alone. At six months, she had a strange episode that led them to rush her to the hospital. It was there that her neurologist diagnosed her with Hypotonia or low muscle tone. This is typically a symptom of a specific syndrome commonly seen in cerebral palsy and Down syndrome. Her hypotonia affected her swallowing/eating, smiling, coughing, talking etc., any function that requires her muscles. Today she is 18 months adjusted, and after numerous doctor visits in various specialties, we are still waiting on genetic results to figure out what she may have.
What we can help her with right now are therapy sessions and equipment that will help her integrate socially with her siblings and peers. She often has to remain lying down or sitting and cannot move forward due to the need for an adequate walker. Although both parents work full time, there is not enough to go around for expensive medical equipment or intensive therapy sessions.
Ariah's family is trying to raise money to get her the walker she needs, and they have exhausted every other resource.
PT has tried
They have tried the TRAID centers near them
They have contacted the local reps and manufacturers with no luck
So now it's our turn! If you can, please consider a donation, big or small, to help Ariah get the equpiment & therapy she needs so she can take her journey to the next "step"
