Aria Faith's Medical Treatment

Aria Faith was born on October 20th, 2015. She grunts when she sleeps, LOVES to snuggle, and never misses an opportunity to sleep on someone's chest. In other words, she's perfect.

After Aria was born, her umbilical chord blood was collected and subsequently tested for what's called the RB1 gene. This gene or gene mutation is responsible for retinoblastoma, or otherwise known as eye cancer. Aria's father (and my brother), Kevin, was born with the same cancer as a baby and lost his left eye as a result. After my brother and his wife, Krista, were informed that Aria was positive for the RB1 gene, scans were completed to check for any abnormalities. The initial reading was said to have no abnormalities, but because moms have super-human instincts, Krista decided to ask for a second opinion; I thank God that she did!

On Wednesday, November 11th, 2015 - this precious baby girl, at less than one month old, was diagnosed with cancer. Although we were initially told two tumors were found, the MRI that was completed on November 13th, 2015 showed only one tumor. The tumor is approximately 2mm in size, which is relatively small and is not obstructing the optic nerve at this point.

On Sunday, November 15th, 2015, my brother, sister-in-law, nephew, and niece will make the drive to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to meet with world renowned ocular oncologist, Dr. Carol Shields. Our family wants nothing but the best for our princess.

However, all of this does not come cheap (as I'm sure anyone who's ever visited the doctor knows). Kevin and Krista did not ask any of us for help financially, but my husband and I wanted to set up this page to ask for them. No parent should have to watch their child suffer. No parent should have to worry and stress about how to pay for their child's medical treatment. Unfortunately, that's not how life works. So, I am asking from the bottom of my heart, whether you know these amazing people or not, please...share this page with anyone and everyone. Please, if you are able, donate to this fund so that my brother and sister have money to put towards Aria's treatment and the many trips to Philadelphia that are to come. $1, $5, $10.... Anything, any amount that you are able to share is such a blessing and I thank you from the very bottom of my heart.
