Aria and India's Co-op in Puerto Rico

Hi all! We're Aria and India, and this September we are very excited to be moving to San Juan Puerto Rico for 6 months! We both attend Drexel University in Philadelphia where we are required to participate in a Co-op program. This means for the 6 month period we will be working with an outside company, and we are lucky enough to get a position working with Andanza. This is a contemporary dance company, and we will be doing administrative work for the company, active in community based learning, teaching, and taking classes. As dance majors, it's extremely exciting to be able to travel and experience a new culture as well as work with professional dancers!

As excited as we are, this is going to be difficult to manage financially as two college students. While we are working on the island, our positions will be unpaid. We will be getting additional jobs as well as saving up this summer to be able to afford the expenses needed. We have also applied for funding through Drexel, but we're informed by our advisor that there is only one funding opportunity, and no way to guarantee we will receive it. We will need to be covering rent, traveling to the island, transportation while on the island, groceries, etc. Rent prices run high, and if we were able to meet our goal of $7,500 would cover rent. This would greatly reduce our stress while on Co-op, and allow us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the culture of Puerto Rico while there.

Any donation we are able to receive will be greatly helpful, and release of lot of the stress regarding living in Puerto Rico.
