Glass Twin's Battle with Cancer
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Ian, and this fundraiser has been created on behalf of the Glass family; Josh, Lisa, Evelyn, and their six-month-old twins, Ari and Seth who currently live in Calgary, Alberta.
Sadly, on August 6th Ari went to the doctor's appointment to investigate how to assist him with what seemed to be a lazy eye. During that exam, it was clear that Ari had tumors in both eyes, one of which was much more advanced. It was shortly diagnosed as a genetic issue, and his identical twin brother, Seth, was immediately tested. Unfortunately, the doctors found similar tumors in both of Seth's eyes.
The Glass family was immediately referred to a specialist out of Toronto. They packed up their three kids, boarded a plane, and traveled to Toronto for their first appointment with the specialist on August 8th. Unfortunately, through the various tests and scans, Ari and Seth have been diagnosed with Retinoblastoma, a form of genetic eye cancer.
The Glass family is now scheduled for a long, heavy road ahead. The twins are expected to have ports put in over the next week and begin chemotherapy in Toronto. At this point, Seth is scheduled for four rounds and Ari for six. As it stands, the Glass family will travel to Toronto each month for this procedure to occur. At this point, the doctors are uncomfortable with having chemotherapy administered in Calgary far away from their observation.
The Glass family needs our help. This news is shocking and devastating, and they have so quickly and lovingly traveled across the country in pursuit of health for their boys. Further, their two-year-old, Evelyn, has been traveling with them and has been helpful beyond her years. One can only imagine the stress and strain this has put on the Glass family, yet they do it gracefully, all the while choosing to praise and recognize God's hand on their family and the doctors in pursuit of solutions.
What can we do? Beyond healing prayer for the twins and strength and steadfastness for the other family members, we can help solve their financial woes. They have been tasked with traveling across the country every couple of weeks, taking time away from work, hotel rooms, rental cars with three car seats, meals, and so much more beyond what is known now. Here's how we have generally broken down the financial need:
Salary loss: ~$25,000
Accommodations: ~$25,000
Rental cars: ~$7,500
Meals: ~$10,000
Hospital parking fees: ~$1,500
Additional unknown expenses: ~$10,000
So significantly, the Glass' response was gracious and selfless when we discussed the potential for setting this up. They never wanted to demand anything or burden others. No family is prepared for news like this, and they are no exception. So please join us in supporting the Glass family through prayer and financial giving.
You can donate or follow this fundraiser to receive ongoing updates of their story.
