In Loving Memory of Argentina “Tina” Castro

On September 25, 2025, our beloved family friend, Argentina Castro, affectionately known as Tina, passed away at the age of 80, just one month after her milestone birthday. Born on August 17, 1945, in Panama, Tina was a bright spirit with the biggest smile and dimples that lit up every room. She radiated kindness, joy, and love, and she remained childlike and full of wonder until the very end.

Tina has been part of my life for as long as I can remember — truly since I was a baby. To my siblings and me, she and her dear friend Lee were like extra grandparents, always showing up for us and welcoming us with love. When times were difficult, Tina and Lee opened their home to us free of charge, giving us not only a roof over our heads but also stability, laughter, and a sense of family.

They were also dear friends with my grandmother, who later lived with Tina and Lee as well. Together they shared meals, laughter, and countless games of Lotería and cards. They were like comadres — or as we’d say, cheras — who stood by each other through life’s ups and downs.

Though Tina never married or had children of her own, she dedicated her life to caring for others. She lovingly cared for her mother until she passed at the age of 96, showing the same devotion and selflessness that she gave to everyone in her life. Tina shared her days with Lee, her closest companion, and she filled every gathering with her love of music and dancing.

Tina became ill late in life, and her passing came sooner than any of us expected. Even in those final days, her spirit of grace and joy never left her. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity, friendship, and love that will always remain in our hearts.

We are raising funds to help cover the costs of Tina’s memorial and burial at Forest Lawn, where her mother rests. The total expenses will be at least $21,000, and the financial burden is more than her loved ones can carry alone. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help us give Tina the dignified farewell she deserves and bring comfort to Lee, who now faces life without her dearest friend.

If you are unable to contribute financially, we ask that you keep Tina, Lee, and our family in your prayers, and share this page with others who may wish to help. Your love and support mean more than words can express.

Thank you for honoring the beautiful life of Argentina “Tina” Castro with us.
