On March 21, a fire destroyed our family home, leaving most of us with no possessions and no place to live for the foreseeable future.
We are heartbroken, daunted by the thought of having to completely restart our lives, and devastated by the loss of so much more than a house. We lost a home that has been in our family for over 35 years, a home where Joey, Jackie, and Drew all grew up, a home in which we've made countless memories, that has seen us through all the wonderful and not so wonderful parts of our lives, and that has always been the backbone of our family.
The fire completely wiped out every room in our house, destroyed all of our belongings, and took the life of our sweet dog Mina. We nearly lost our other dog Rudy, and he's currently fighting for his life in a veterinarian's hospital. We are unbelievably grateful that only one person was home at the time of the fire, and they escaped the house with only minor injuries before it spread.
We now begin the scary, seemingly endless process of rebuilding our lives, and are asking for any help you may be able to give during this immensely difficult time. The generosity and support we have already received has been mind blowing and SO appreciated. We will be spending the next year rebuilding our home and hopefully replacing most of what we lost. The priceless keepsakes we have collected over our lives are all gone, but we are filled with immeasurable gratitude that all we lost were things, and that we have each other to get through this.
We appreciate any and all help, whether you can contribute here, or are just keeping us in your thoughts. We hope one day we are able to pay forward the outpouring of love we've received.
Thank you,
The DuPlante Derrickson Family
