Happy Indigenous People’s Day, LOL !

The Short and Dirty Version:
  • Our “landlord” died.
  • New owners refuse to honor our two year lease.
  • We’re being displaced / forced to move.
  • Have to be out by Tuesday October 24th.
  • Need to pay $2663 before Friday October 20th.

The Details:
We’re celebrating Indigenous People’s Day by packing up our house / lives and moving in two weeks. Our family was notified, less than a month ago, that the house we live in was being sold. Last week we met the new owners. They told us they weren’t honoring the two year lease we signed at the beginning of the year. (Btw, this is their 3rd property in town.)

Land theft and Indigenous Peoples:
One of the main obstacles to making "the American Dream" happen for settlers were / are the indigenous peoples who were / are already living there / here. To remedy this problem, whole communities were destroyed, slaughtered, and forced to relocate. This was done to quench settler’s desire for domination, exploitation, and because they believed it was their destiny. Yuck! And this is still happening!

White settlers bought the house we are renting (what a joke for indigenous people, to rent), and are trying to make a profit off of something that isn’t theirs to begin with (a house ON STOLEN LAND). These actions can be summed up with one word—greed.

For those of you who need to know how these funds will be allocated, here it is:
$2122 for deposit and move-in fees
$464 for moving help (we’re all disabled)
$77 for gofund me fees

We’re covering as much of the costs as we can, but we’re all on some kind of fixed income, and it’s not enough :(

Who are WE?
Queer brown femmes. Moms. A Dadcat. A grandma. Healers. Ancestors. Two chubby chihuahuas. Disabled. Connected. Open. Magic makers who take care of each other and the ones we love.

Surviving is exhausting. This is the third time we’ve been displaced in less than THREE FUCKING YEARS! All of this has taken so much time and energy—planning, negotiating, worrying, building trust, figuring out a budget, asking for favors, writing this—don’t let it be for nothing. Join our efforts and share what you can, it’ll get us to our goal! Pray for us, share your generational wealth with us, send this fundraiser to friends and family with money. Just don’t give us advice please, lol!
