I was recently selected to attend the Arctic Youth Ambassador Caucus in Iqaluit, Nunavut. I am responsible for funding 40% of my journey there. Obama funded his campaign on micro-donations, therefore so can I. I know that I am not as cool as Obama, but what I am saying is that any donation, no matter what amount, will make a huge difference. Why did you start a go fund me page?
I was recently selected to represent my community at Global Vision's Arctic Youth Ambassador Caucus (AYAC). The caucus will bring together 25 youth from southern Canada and 25 youth from northern Canada to engage in roundtables about food security, healthcare, education, and the environment.
How much money do you need?
All funds will go directly to the sponsorship of my attendance at the Arctic Youth Ambassador Caucus.
The participation cost (a large part is the very pricey flight cost to the north) is $2750. I am looking for your help in raising money. In addition, I have been working with community sponsors to get donations but any little bit helps! Please note that Global Vision is a charitable organization, so donations (from Canada) are eligible for tax refunds. Don't hesitate to ask if you have questions!
What is your interest in going to the AYAC?
People who know me best know that I am passionate about the sustainable development and green future of Canada. In my application video, I outlined that my main focus at the caucus will be to discuss and learn about how climate change impacts remote northern communities and how people in the south can work to mitigate the impacts of climate change. Canadian youth of today will feel the impacts of climate change more than any generation before us. As a result, I look forward to using the AYAC as an opportunity to spark climate conversation and mobilize youth on a national level.
In addition, I dedicate a good portion of my extra time to working with people with disabilities. I am a firm believer in the power of volunteer-based social programs that benefit people with developmental disabilities. I will work hard to bring forward my experience working with people with disabilities to create programming that will ensure a prosperous future for people with developmental disabilities in the north!
I am so honoured and excited to have been given this opportunity to immerse myself in northern culture and contribute to a stronger and more united Canada. I would like to thank you in advance for your support, you rock!
