On New Year's Day while driving to Wichita to see Cindy's dad in the hospital, Danny and Cindy Archuleta were involved in a head-on collision when a car traveling in the opposite direction crossed the centerline and hit them. The accident occurred on K-2 west of Anthony, KS. Danny escaped with only a few cuts and bruises, while Cindy sustained life-threatening injuries. Cindy's heart stopped 5 times: Once at the Anthony Hospital, twice on the abulance ride to Wichita, and twice in the ER at Wichita, KS. Five times they revived her. On the fifth time, the trauma doctor in the ER made the decision to open her up and that is when they found the hole in her left ventricle. Surgery was performed and it is truly a miracle she survived.
Cindy remains in critical condition. She sustained 8 broken ribs (one on the left and seven on the right), L5 (vertebrae above the sacrum) fracture, broken fibula in her left leg, broken right side of plevis and a few hematoma. As a result of the trauma, her kidneys also suffered and she is currently on dialysis.
This fund was started by friends and family of Cindy and Danny to help meet the financial costs that will be incurred while in the hospital and during rehabilitation.
