Hello friends and family,
Please support my dream of becoming the first Architectural Engineer in my family. I am very passionate about engineering, building prototypes, and thinking creatively. Last summer, I attended a week-long residential engineering program at UC Berkeley, where I learned about gravity-fed water systems, including how to identify the factors that impact construction of a water tower in the developing world for a group Capstone Impact Challenge. My team and I used geographic information systems to gather information about the potential project sites in a selected country. I also am enjoying participating in an Engineering Pathway College Preparatory Program, freshman through senior year at my high school. Within my first year, I earned best design and best movement for the Automata Showcase competition.
I am very excited to announce that I am officially enrolled in a four-week summer program at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obisbo (aka Cal Poly SLO). I will be exposed to an in-depth view of architecture through hands-on experience. This program will give me the opportunity to create a design profile and assess my career interests across all five of the related disciplines of the built environment: Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Landscape Architecture, City and Regional Planning, and Construction Management.
This is an in-residence program, meaning that I will get to live on campus and experience dorm life. The program will help me develop leadership skills, presentation skills, and project-based skills. Registration fees cost a total of $5,500. My mother paid for half and I currently have a balance of $2,750. remaining. Program expenses include all materials, room and board, food, study tours, and many social activities. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. I am honored to enhance my educational pursuits and engineering journey.
Thank you all for your love and support.
Sincerely,
Jolie Osborne Monroe
