Archie’s Tooth Extractions

Hi!
As anyone who knows me is aware, I love cats. If you know me, you’re also probably aware that I’ve had to say goodbye to two sweet senior cats this year. That has been both emotionally exhausting and traumatic, as well as financially difficult.
In an effort to rebuild my heart and my home, I recently adopted an adult cat named Archie. Archie is a very sweet boy. He was adopted with knowledge that he was an FIV+ kitty, and I was willing to take on the additional responsibility that this diagnosis may come with, but we were also told he was in pretty good shape, and just may eventually need full tooth extractions. No worries, I figured I would start saving and be prepared for that day when the time came.
Well, as it turns out, he needed those extractions at the time he was adopted. Upon bringing him in for his “free” vet visit, we expressed some concern that he may be depressed, he hasn’t been very active and he sleeps a lot. The vet then saw his teeth and, with some degree of shock, told us he’s probably in a lot of pain and that is most likely what is impacting his behavior and making him seem depressed. We were surprised (and, honestly, disappointed) to discover that his teeth were in such rough shape. We truly thought we’d have time before any major issues presented themselves, and therein lies the problem; I would love to take care of this as soon as possible, but financially this will take much longer than Archie should have to suffer. He has been prescribed antibiotics and pain meds to provide some comfort while we attempt to gather the funds and wait for his scheduled surgery. I feel that our best and only option is to ask for help, relying on the kindness of friends and family who may be willing to help us help this sweet boy. He’s been through so much. Before we adopted him he was found, had many teeth removed, his matted fur shaved, and then when he was healed he waited at the cat cafe for three long months to find his family. We will not give up on him, he’s such a sweet cat and I am so grateful to have him, but this is a rather unexpected curve hall so soon after bringing him home, and any help anyone might be willing to offer will be appreciated beyond what words could possibly express. I just want this sweet kitty to have the best life, and these tooth extractions will be a huge step toward prolonged health and comfort for him.
