My name is Archie and I have been a non binary performer and disability & trans rights advocate for coming up to 10 years!

From years of binding tape binding combined with long COVID and a heart condition I have permanent costochronditis - which is 24/7 chronic chest pains.

In 2018 I paid privately to have gender affirming top surgery, but was convinced by others to have a breast lift and reduction down to a flat chest and keep a feminine chest wall. They have since grown back to a DD cup.

Due to having constant and continuous chest pain from costochronditis and an inflamed heart wall from long COVID it makes wearing a binder, a bra, or any pressure whatsoever along my chest to be excruciatingly painful.

I have been considering having top surgery again ever since my chest started growing back for gender affirming reasons and had saved up enough to have it done in July 2025 and paid a decent sized non refundable deposit - but due to having multiple chronic illnesses I needed to have another stomach surgery and the funds I saved years for went to that instead.

My cardiologist recently told me that if I did decide to have my breast tissue removed again that it would dramatically improve or even resolve my chest pains entirely! ( and possibly also help my chronic back pain)

A double mastectomy is much more affordable than FTM top surgery and either surgery will mean they shouldn’t grow back like they did the first time, I’m not concerned with aesthetics or keeping my nips, I think scars are badass and I’ll cover my torso in tattoos eventually anyway.

I just want to not be in pain.

I have a large collection of chronic illnesses and invisible disabilities and can no longer work full time and most of my income goes towards medical bills, I’m hoping having this large percentage of my pain issues will also result in my overall health improving - meaning I might be able to go back to working more and being a tax paying member of society once again.

I’ve never wanted to ask for help to pay for my medical costs or surgeries, previously I’ve gotten loans, saved up or used my superannuation. But none of these are feasible options anymore, if it was about aesthetics I probably still wouldn’t ask for help. But I just don’t want to be in pain anymore. I’ve always been all for other people’s fundraising for gender affirming surgeries - but I couldn’t do it for myself.

Since I’ve already paid a decent sized deposit it means I’m only about $5K away!

I’ve recently started being able to work in little bits again, I’m happy to trade in any talent or services I may have and will soon qualify as a cosmetic tattooist ( hoping to specialise in gender affirming care and learn paramedical tattooing)

I know we’re all doing it tough, I don’t expect to raise the entire amount I need. But any little bit or sharing of this gofundme helps.
