Arcane Remedies opened in November 2019, before we knew what was coming (we all know what happened). To open the shop, I maxed out my personal credit lines and cleared out all my personal savings, anticipating to at least make a return within 2 years. Unfortunately, now that we've hit that two-year mark... while the business has "grown", I've still been buried by all the initial debts to open that weren't able to be recovered in 2020... my part-time job closed it's doors due to the pandemic so I lost income, and I was unable to find safe work comparable (nor did I really have time for another job with managing the shop solo). I had imagined by year 2.5 we'd be able to have employees, but that has not been a reasonable expense up to this point because I can't afford to pay myself, let alone other people.

In our 2.5 years in this community, we have become a safe space for so many, establishing ourselves as many people's preferred source for metaphysical goods. (There are other crystal shops that we love! And other botanicas... but we've cornered a unique little market).

We are a Healing Collective and Metaphysical Supply store in West Greenville, Soutch Carolina. We offer classes, workshops, reiki & readings. We sell crystals, 111 different dried botanicals, books, tarot, and more. We focus on supporting other small businesses in our sourcing as much as possible. We are 100% queer and Cuban founded.

But... we're drowning in our personal/business debts. Add on top of normal costs so many unexpected medical expenses and vet emergencies over the last year, missing a whole month in 2021 due to head injury, and the worst sales these past few months... things are grim and I'm hitting a wall.

I've attempted to apply for conventional loans, but I won't get approved for any due to my credit from maxing it out for the shop. I've tried to apply for aid, but due to the small scale of our business we didn’t get much of anything from COVID relief. I've even tried to apply for food stamps, covid relief for our utilities, anything I can find but I haven't been able to get anything substantial so things keep piling and I'm hardly making dents paying the mimimums, and it seems I'm out of options.

I know times are hard for everyone right now, honestly. But any little bit helps keep this dream alive and special space available to the public.
