We have always had a heart for the orphan so when our oldest daughter, Kira, announced her and her husband, Kenny, were plunging in to a calling to adopt, Rick and I were so happy for them! They have wanted to adopt from early in their marriage, and June 2020 was the month the Lord nudged them to begin the process. Little did they know, how quickly the process would go and how quickly the cost would add up! But, God is ABLE!
Kira put together a gymnastics fundraiser with the help of her very kind and encouraging friends who own a gym. When I shared the fundraising clinic, I had friends message, comment and text their love, encouragement and desire to DONATE! We really did not think to ask for financial assistance, but you all were so kind in your inquiries that I decided to start this page for anyone really feeling like they want to help cover expenses to complete Kira and Kenny's adoption.
Adoption is an expensive process. We never really think about it, because we don't have to and because you would think rescuing an orphan would not cost $30,000 - $45,000! We do not discredit the fact that there are a lot of costs and legitimately so, but when Kira and Kenny decided to adopt, cost was not a factor. Sadly, now that the costs are accruing, it has become a very big factor; Where the excitement of adding a child God had chosen for their family has become slightly clouded by how they will pay for the next service or fee.
We are all still so excited and anticipating God's next big move! The child God highlighted and stood out from the rest has some special needs. His mother passed in child birth from complications of a disease. His father, also ill, was unable to care for his baby. Placed in an orphanage at 6 months, he has waited 3 and a half years for a family. We cannot wait to SHARE this child with everyone! I will update as the process continues, and they are officially matched to their child!
