Help Arash Fight Leukemia

Donativo protegido

Just shy of his 3rd birthday, Arash, a refugee baby boy was rushed to the hospital due to inexplicable bruises and pain in his abdomen area. Arash was diagnosed with Leukemia and has been in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit since, and has begun receiving Chemotherapy. Arash will be receiving treatment for an estimated 9 months at Rady’s Children’s Hospital and will be unable to attend school for the duration of his treatment. He and his family arrived in the United States in 2017 when he was just 7 months-old. Arash’s parents are originally from Afghanistan, but Arash was born in Indonesia as they awaited resettlement. Arash and his parents were one of the first families impacted by the travel ban as they were stuck in an airport until they were finally cleared to resume their journey to San Diego.

Upon arrival to the United States, his family was resettled by Jewish Family Service of San  Diego.  His parents are both hard-working individuals who quickly became self-sufficient, despite many challenges. Arash’s mother Mahbooba is in school and has also volunteered with other refugee families to help them understand the complex systems of American life. His father, Hojjat, works and has begun taking classes.

This lovely family now faces an entirely new set of challenges that will temporarily jeopardize their self-sufficiency. We need the help of people like you to help keep them on their feet as they fight to beat Leukemia. As evidenced by their hard work, they will have no issue in once again becoming self-sufficient once Arash gets better. In the meantime, they need community support so that their only concern is the health and well-being of their child.

THANK YOU, every bit will help to reach our goal. These funds will help eliminate one barrier of stress for them as they are already facing so much hardship.
