Support for Stephanie & Family

Stephanie first became ill in March of 2014. Thinking it was just a bad case of food poisoning, she appeared to get better, but then she got sick again and again and again, every week. Her weekly illness then turned into a daily illness. We tried every manner of antibiotic, dietary changes, but nothing helped. In a few months she lost 50 lbs, all while trying to eat. Stephanie is not a sedentary person. She exercises, she's involved with her kids, she works, she teaches. But this illness has devastated her. By March of 2015 she had lost over 60 lbs, her athletic frame reduced to a skeleton. By this time she had been poked, prodded and scanned by everything Tulsa has to offer. Desperate for answers we traveled to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. For two weeks she was tested for everything under the sun. The doctors were stumped aside from some strange lab results that indicated that her body was trying to fight off something. During this time she developed other complications like life threatening asthma. Everything indicated that her body was attacking itself. The doctors ordered a specialized treatment program to try and get her body working properly again. In similar circumstances with other patients this program has had an 80% success rate. After struggling with our insurance for 6 months and despite multiple letters of medical necessity from the doctor we got the word that she would not be covered. The last 18 months have decimated our finances. We've reached that point where we just have to humble ourselves and ask for help. We've incurred an enormous amount of medical debt and the program is very expensive. If you feel led to give we would be forever thankful.
