Accident Relief

I pursued my dream of baking by starting Sugar Daddy’s Cakery three years ago out of my kitchen.  My creations, aside from tasting great, were unique and caught the attention of the producers of Sugar Rush and was approached by them to be on Season Two and as business was starting to pick up the pandemic hit.  Like most businesses, I lost most of my income and did what I could to survive including taking on another job working at someone else’s bakery while still doing the orders I had for Sugar Daddy’s.  Well, this past Tuesday, November 17, around 1:30pm an SUV came crashing into the kitchen of that bakery and I was crushed in between the stove and the SUV, then I collapsed onto the floor as the SUV went in reverse and I started having a seizure. When I came to from the seizure, I could not feel my legs.  All I could scream out was “I can’t feel my legs”.  I was released from the hospital with the prognosis of a fractured disk which was also herniated.  As of now I still don’t have feeling in my legs but I have an appointment this week with a neurologist.  I’ve already been warned that I will have a long recovery ahead including physical therapy and I have uncertainty about what medical costs will be covered and by who.  In the meantime, I won’t be able to work and I had already reduced my expenses considerably during the pandemic and I had taken on a second job along with other weekend gigs and was barely getting by but at least I had the physical ability to work and get by.  I was looking forward to catching a financial break with increased holiday business with Sugar Daddy’s but now that’s not going to be an option with the spinal injury. I am asking for help with expenses in the amount of $6,000 to get me by for at least the next 2-3 months with rent, food and bills until I can literally get back up on my feet again. I appreciate the ongoing support from all of you, some I know personally and some I know only from social media connection.  I know that I won’t be in a chair forever… but for now, this is my reality and I’m learning to cope.
