The Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon is a world-class agricultural community, yet we only grow less than 3% of our foodstuffs locally. The USDA has also identified communities in our area that reside in so-called 'food deserts' where good nutrition is lacking due to poverty and other debilitating social factors.
I am an award-winning social entrepreneur whose social business model was acknowledged by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Prof. Muhammad Yunus (pictured above). I founded Southern Oregon Aquaponics for the purpose of creating more sustainable food production and alleviating food insecurity wherever communities suffer from poor access to fresh, organic local food.
This week (June 5-8), we are set to attend our first commercial aquaponics training at Ourobouros Farms in Pescadero, California (see: Ouroboros Farms). While our business has already received $30,000 in funding for construction of a commercial greenhouse facility, we are asking for your help to achieve another milestone. By funding two members of our team to attend this training, we are going to add significant credibility and power to our venture.
Without these resources, there is a less favorable chance that our major crowd-funding campaign will be met with success. This seed finance will allow us to provide increasing quantities of good food to those suffering most from food insecurity in our region.
My professional background is in renewable energy and food entrepreneurship. Recently, I have become one of the most vocal proponents of food system development in the Rogue Valley. I helped spearhead new legistation in Jackson County that has made American history by becoming one of the only counties in the U.S. to regulate genetically modified crops.
Should you make these key resources available to me and my team, we will reward you with recognition of your generosity and dividends from the sustainable food enterprise we are launching.
Let us join in building a sustainable food system for the future of the Rogue Valley and beyond...
Many thanks for your support!
