Aquaponics in Thailand Project
Donation protected
Earlier this year I had the opportunity to serve at a foster care home in northern Thailand by reviving their aquaponics farm. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported the work earlier this year!
The farm serves to feed the children and staff of Connie’s Home located in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This ongoing project is thriving and continues to move forward.
Connie’s Home also provides work for female juvenile offenders through a work-release program approved through the Thai courts. Connie trains the girls who want to be nannies and allows them to earn an income while they are serving time which is put in savings until they are released. This provides the girls with something to start a new life. Some stay on as employees, some go on to be nannies elsewhere, and some apply new skills to other jobs. Connie’s Home hopes to have other opportunities for the girls to pursue their passions in other areas and is working on several future projects.

I will be partnering with Connie’s Home again at the end of this year to continue the work that has begun. I will be training new local staff members on the maintenance and upkeep of aquaponics as well as getting the system operating at maximum capacity so that there is enough vegetation to feed the children and staff. This project will educate new farmers and provide jobs for local Thai employees at the foster home. It will also continue to provide sustainable agriculture to the area.
The total amount needed to cover the cost of this nine-week trip is $6000. I will be traveling to Chiang Mai, Thailand on December 27, 2019 and returning home the week after Mardi Gras on March 3, 2020.
Please prayerfully consider coming alongside me as I volunteer at Connie’s Home by becoming a prayer partner or by giving a donation or making a monthly pledge. Donations can be made by sending a check made out to Lauren Manders and mailed to:
