We are so shocked and excited to announce we are this year’s International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella’s (ICCA) WILDCARD FINALISTS! We now have the opportunity to travel to New York City to compete amongst nine of the top a cappella groups in the world, representing the UK alongside our friends (and UK semi-final winners) The Northern Lights on an actual Broadway stage! We are absolutely overwhelmed to be presented with this opportunity. However, we don't have much time until April 29th, and we won’t be able to get there without your help.

Who are we?

We are Aquapella - a 15-piece a cappella group from the University of Bath. We pride ourselves on our passion for creating new and exciting vocal music. As a close group of friends, we love nothing more than being able to perform together to audiences wherever they may be.

Founded in 2011, the group has consistently strived to achieve the highest standards in all that we do; performing at competitions, showcases, festivals, and private events across the country. Our eclectic musical repertoire includes indie and pop bangers, contemporary ballads, and even the odd “Pop Punk Medley”. It’s been a busy yet exciting year for us as a group so far, and we are so humbled to now have the opportunity to share our music on an international stage.

Why donate?

This incredible opportunity will come at a great financial cost for us as a group. We are proud to have been very self-sufficient in the past by funding our various projects and events each year. From organising our own travel plans and budgeting for two-week show runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, to busking in our lovely city of Bath and taking part in several paid gigs throughout the year, including our upcoming fundraising gig in Komedia, Bath. We are definitely no strangers to making it work with what we have, and fundraising ourselves. However, with our wildcard win being so unexpected, we are in desperate need of your support to stand a chance of reaching the international finals in New York. It would mean the world to us if you could donate to our fund in order to make this dream a reality.

How will the funds be used?

We are already overwhelmed by the messages of support from our extended Aquapella alumni, families, and the wider a cappella community since the news of our win. We really want to show everyone in New York what UK a cappella is about. We’ve been working around the clock to get everything booked and organised on our end, as well as pitching in with our own funds, but a lot of what we can do under the time constraints will rely on how much we’ll be able to raise. Your donations will go towards our travel to New York, accommodation, transport, and other expenses that may arise - a little goes an extremely long way! To even be able to go to New York and perform on a Broadway stage with your best friends sounds like a dream in and of itself, and we would so greatly appreciate any help you can give to make this dream come true.
