Mark's Miracle

Hello Everyone,

My name is Rachel, and I am a close friend of Amanda and Mark Clements. As most of you know, Mark has unfortunately been fighting with Lymphoma for a few years now. His story with this disease started back in early 2018 when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma that had affected 70% of his bone marrow. They immediately started aggressive treatment that included chemo and he was back to work a few months after treatment in hopes that this horrible disease was out of his system. It was also during this time that Mark and Amanda welcomed their son Kane in September 2018. Together they did their best to be hopeful and excited during their pregnancy and future of their family but cancer sadly had other plans.

During a routine scan/check up later in October of 2018 they were informed that the cancer was still present in Mark’s body. At this time they got Mark ready for a stem cell transplant in January of 2019. This was an intense procedure that landed him in the hospital for a little over a month where he had to be closely monitored by doctors and their staff. Things were looking up and Mark stayed in remission after this transplant for two and half years!!!

It wasn’t until August of 2021 that Mark went in for another routine check up where they had to inform the happy couple that the PETScan showed that the lymphoma was back for another go around. Again Mark and Amanda got ready to fight this disease and in September 2021 Mark underwent Carr T Cell Therapy procedure. This was another intense procedure that again landed Mark in the hospital for weeks at a time. 30 days after the treatment Mark and Amanda were sadly notified again in November by doctors that the treatment had stopped working and something else would have to be tried.

After finding out that the lymphoma was stronger then the Carr T Cell Therapy, Amanda and Mark were in communication with City of Hope waiting for their next treatment option and plan of action. They waited….and waited….and waited until February 2022 Mark was admitted to the ER for pneumonia like symptoms. He was treated and sent home only to have to go back in March with similar symptoms that would not go away. At the end of March/Early April Mark was admitted into the hospital where he was given an extensive amount of labs, blood work, scans, tests and biopsies. With the biopsy they found that the lymphoma had reached the lungs and was causing all the symptoms Mark was struggling with.

The doctors want Mark to go out on hospice however Mark and Amanda ARE NOT DONE FIGHTING!!! They refuse to give up and believe that God has a plan for their lives during this difficult trial. The doctors have chemo treatments lined up for Mark this week providing his stats stay stable and Amanda is continuously pushing the limits with the nurses and doctors to treat Mark in all capabilities possible.

To say this has been an uphill battle each day is an understatement. Amanda has been by Mark’s side each and every day and they are in need of help to continue the fight of their lives!! Both Amanda and Mark are hardworking individuals that have found themselves in an unimaginable situation. At this time Amanda is in no place to go to work and Mark needs all the rest, therapy and treatment he can get to get him back to the Mark we all know and love. We are asking for any type of help to go towards housing and daily life bills, food expenses but most importantly medical expenses to help get Mark the items and supplies he needs to be comfortable and on the path to health again. Anything is greatly appreciated at this time as we all fight this disease together with Mark and Amanda and Kane <3
