Rebuilding After Hurricane Melissa

Our team at MOSAIC—Movement Of Social And Individual Consciousness —and our community in Hopewell, Hanover, adjacent to Montego Bay, experienced a direct hit from Category 5 Hurricane Melissa, now recognized as the Storm of the Century. MOSAIC Villa, a place for healing, built on love, connection, and community, was also damaged during the storm.

MOSAIC Villa, along with all of our surrounding neighbors, suffered serious devastation from the torrential rain and the 185 mph winds. Hurricane Melissa left families displaced, homes destroyed, and communities without power, running water, shelter, and, in many places, without food.

The footage you see in the attached video was personally recorded by Theresa and Tanika right after the hurricane.

As of today, electricity still has not been restored, gas shortages continue, and children cannot return to school until January 2026.

Our mission with this GoFundMe is to restore the MOSAIC Villa and also aid our neighbors by being able to purchase essential supplies. Our aim continues to be to heal, uplift, and unite our communities, and to work toward them being even stronger and more connected than before. This GoFundMe is an extension of that aim.
