My name is Persona Bell, and I recently went to Jamaica to celebrate my friends' 40th birthday. We had an amazing time in Trelawny and met so many beautiful, caring people. When we heard about Hurricane Melissa, we were devastated. We waited almost a week to finally hear from our friends in Trelawny Parish only to hear that they were without cover, food, electricity or clean water. The Hurricane destroyed the resort that we stayed at and took off roofs and flooded so many people’s homes in the area.
There are many celebrities and disaster relief organizations currently donating large sums and sending private planes to Jamaica, but many local people are not able to reach the areas of distribution. This is where we can come in and actually provide funds to the locals so they can replace necessary fundamental items destroyed in the storm and find their way to areas of the island where organizations are providing hot meals. We have direct contact with locals on the ground and they will immediately be able to benefit from your donations. ALL monies will be sent directly to our contacts in Trelawny so they can survive in the interim while waiting for from help from larger organizations currently serving the main cities (Black River, Kingston and Montego Bay etc.).
Please search your heart and think of how much you would appreciate a helping hand if you lost everything. Anything is appreciated as we all look to find ways to help Jamaica.
