Hi, my name is Dave and I'm raising funds to support the amazing work of APROP, a registered charity that rescues, cares for and re-homes abandoned cats and dogs in and around Pego, in the province of Alicante, Spain. Our work is relentless and while we receive a small amount of local government funding, we are entirely dependent upon our volunteers and the vast majority of our operating costs are funded through the generous donations of people like you, who either donate directly or via fundraising activities, such as this. So, starting on 14th April 2024, I will be embarking on the Camino Frances, one of the longest and most traditional of the Camino de Santiago routes, walking 778km/484 miles over 33 days from St Jean Pied de Port in France to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. My aim is to raise sufficient funds to provide solar power at our animal shelter, as we have no mains power, in order to provide us with hot water and, essentially for the hot summer months, fans and ventilation to keep the cats, dogs and volunteers cool. Once the fundraiser is completed, 100% of the funds raised will be transferred directly to Aprop, who will then complete the much needed work to improve conditions at the shelter in time for summer 2024.
