Hello everyone, my name is Andrea. My family and I are raising money for my mother who was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) on November 16, 2020. Not many know of this disease. In this disease, nerve cells break down, which reduces functionality in the muscles they supply. The cause is unknown. Medication and therapy can slow down ALS and reduce discomfort, but there's no cure. Unfortunately, it has progressed so much faster than we anticipated or can even keep up with. From November 2020 to now June 2021 she has progressed very rapidly and is now in a motorized wheel chair. She has a loaner van that was given to us by the ALS Association a few months back to assist for a the time being but now it is time to either buy the van or give it back.. Due to weekly doctor visits, sometimes more than once a week it is critical that she is able to keep the van. My mom and her husband travel to Riverside County for these doctor appointments. Her husband is not working so she has around the clock care so funds have been very limited.
