Howdy everyone,

I am raising support for my best friend, April Kaiser. On July 28, April was severely injured after an accident involving her horse, Zeke (aka Zekers). April is an amazing person, and anyone who knows her knows she is the kind of soul who puts others before herself. She is a brilliant scientist and a dedicated dog mom, cat mom, horsewoman, and outdoorswoman.

Here is April's story:

While out on a trail ride, to the best of our knowledge, April began feeling unwell and attempted to get off Zeke. In the process, both she and Zeke fell. When Zeke fell, it appears that he either landed on top of April or had some type of contact with her.

Zeke then returned to the barn alone, where it became apparent to the barn owner and other barn members that she was missing. They conducted an extensive search, and after nearly an hour, thanks to a pony who stumbled upon her and refused to leave, they found April lying on the ground near a field.

April was then transported via Life Flight to a hospital in Lewiston, Idaho, where they worked diligently to establish all of her injuries. The decision was made late in the evening of July 28to transport her again via Life Flight her to a level-1 trauma hospital in Seattle.

While the full extent of her injuries is still being evaluated, here is what we know right now:

April has two brain bleeds that likely require surgery to fix
April also has some brain swelling and possibly some stress on her carotid artery
April has at least two thoracic spinal fractures that will also likely require surgery to put rods into her back to stabilize her spine
April may also have a facial fracture

April was slated to begin a new job on August 1, which will now be delayed as she recovers and heals.

I am starting this page to raise as much money as possible to help cover all of the medical expenses that will come from this accident, such as air transport, surgeries, hospital stays, rehabilitation and physical therapy, and anything else. I am also hoping to raise support to help cover her regular bills while she cannot work.
