My niece April was diagnosed with obstructive Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. A inherited disease causing thickening of the heart muscle making it harder to pump blood. HCM also causes changes in the heart’s electrical system that could result in sudden death. April understood the risk of the surgery and even questioned having it. The Doctors felt without the surgery her life would be short. Either way Death was a possibility. Her loved ones reassured her that God was much greater and would lead her throughout the process and bring her through. On November 17 April went in to have her surgery in which they would go in shave her heart muscle and place a mechanical valve. It seemed as though the surgery went well until April stopped breathing. They automatically began shocking her to bring her back. This would continue for days on end until doctors decided to place her on life support and sedate her allowing the machines to do the work until they could figure out what was going on and the next steps to take. She has been on a ventilator, Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, Dialysis and a tracheotomy. They are now speaking of her needing a heart transplant. April has endured a extreme amount in these past 25 days and still has a long road ahead. She is looking at several more months of hospitalization We all know even with insurance how expensive that can be. Not knowing if or when she will be able to go back to work. I am asking for anyone that could help ease any of the financial burden during this time no matter the amount. Pray about it. If God leads you or lays it upon your heart to give Please do so.
