The family of April Carter is saddened by her passing but we want to continue the work that April started. As a teacher and mentor, April was loved and admired by many. With her unending energy and love for helping her students, April established and was committed to the Bowie State University Conduit Mentorship Program.
The Conduit Mentorship program fosters positive self-image and builds character while empowering Bowie State students to strive for success. April's legacy will live on through the Prd2Bme Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to continue the Bowie State University Conduit Program. The Foundation will offer scholarships to participants and offer students a path to success thus, continuing to shine light on April's memory. Additionally, the Foundation will support student mentoring which has proven to increase student retention, boost job placement rates, and improve alumni engagement by encouraging Bowie State University alumnus to serve as mentors.
