APR Dragons -> DC We the PeopleComp
Hello!
I'm a 12th grade teacher in Hyde Park, MA on the outskirts of Boston. My students are brilliant and they have been working hard since (at least) the 5th grade to PROVE that they are more than the stereotypes the world sets for them.
This January, they overcame even the expectations that they had set for themselves and won 2nd Place in a Statewide Competition that tested their knowledge of the Constitution, history, Supreme Court cases and current events. Their victory was due to late nights on the phone and g-chat, meeting up in cafe's and online when school was cancelled, coming in on the weekends and staying nights at school - it was due to their incredible efforts and dedication (particularly impressive as their friends are experiencing bouts of senioritis and frolicking in the snow).
Now, these students have a chance to compete at the NATIONAL We the People Championships in DC. They just need to raise $30,000 to be able to go - HA!
Well, we're going to do it - if they can overcome every other obstacle (from snow banks to self-doubt to everything else under the sun) money shouldn't stop us either.
Please help us to raise the funds to support our dreams of getting in the top 10 at the We the People National Competition. The less time we have to spend fundraising, the more time we can spend actually studying our Constitution and government and preparing to leave the competition in the dust!
