Apple Blossom Kindergarten play equipment fund

Hi, my name is Clare and I’m fundraising for Apple Blossom Kindergarten, in Levenshulme - Manchester’s first and only Steiner Waldorf Kindergarten. We are a unique setting, in the middle of Cringle Park, offering nature-based, child-centred play & learning. Working with seasonal rhythms, natural materials and traditional crafts, we allow children to learn through imagination and imitation.

Our setting was 12 years in the making, and has now been registered at Cringle Park for nearly 6 years, all thanks to the hard work and generosity of so many volunteers - parents and families - who gave time, money and resources to help us open.

Unfortunately, this Easter holidays, our setting was broken into and our beautiful garden and playground was trashed. Our fences were cut, our storage sheds were smashed up and much of our stored wooden resources and furniture were smashed up or stolen. The new outdoor seating was also broken into pieces. Our fruit and vegetable gardens were ruined, with most our blossoming fruit tree saplings being literally uprooted and thrown on the roof of the building, or snapped and left to die. In addition, some tins of paint were opened and thrown around, splattering our nature areas with emulsion.

This is heartbreaking for all of our kindergarten staff and families, as so much love and care, as well as time, money and hard work, has been put in over the last 12 months to create a beautiful, growing and learning play space.

We are now left with the job of trying to replace all of our destroyed and stolen resources - from children’s furniture & musical instruments, to seedlings, water trays and a mud kitchen - it is a big job!
