Appeal to support Tamil Nadu (India) to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been spreading in India at a very alarming rate with new evolved variants causing mass infections in recent days. We are witnessing horrific images and news coming out of India daily with Tamil Nadu being one of the worst impacted states in India. Currently the Tamil Nadu state is in the midst of 2 week complete lockdown and is reporting 152,389 active COVID-19 cases of whom 31,410 are on oxygen support.
Yesterday May 12th 2021, the state government of Tamil Nadu made an urgent and public appeal for donations to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund (CMPRF). This fund will only be spent for increasing oxygen beds at hospitals, uninterrupted supply of life-saving drugs and life-saving gas, improving the infrastructure of hospitals, purchasing vaccines and other much needed medical supplies.
On behalf of Tamil Canadians, the Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) is committing its support to the Tamil Nadu government’s efforts to contain the COVID-19 spread and ease the suffering of the people of Tamil Nadu.
At this time, we are requesting everyone’s generosity once again to support the dire needs arising from COVID-19’s ongoing spread in Tamil Nadu. Your generous donations will help save lives of some of the most vulnerable in Tamil Nadu with the purchase of much needed medical supplies.
