40th Reunion Appeal

Donation protected
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:

My fellow classmates, our 40th reunion is right around the corner (tentatively scheduled for mid-July) and it promises to be a special night (which we hope to make even more special by this effort).

Joe O'Bryan has been kind enough to allow me to assist his team with planning our weekend of frivolity.  In speaking with many of you, I've discovered that a real sentiment exists to "step up" our efforts for this most special of evenings.  Specifically, many of our classmates seem desirous of avoiding another year of dancing the night away in a school cafeteria (or its equivalent).

I took the liberty of researching the cost of having next year's reunion in a room at the Owensboro Convention Center overlooking the mighty Ohio River.  In short, for $3,000, we can get a room, a nice food spread, a DJ, and (maybe) even a little free liquor.  And we will all be within walking distance of two major downtown hotels (we're already in discussions about blocking rooms).

The planning committee was rightfully reluctant to increase ticket prices enough to cover the cost of my little dream night; however, after an impassioned plea at the last planning meeting, they agreed to give me 90 days to raise the $3,000 - hence, why we're here today.

So, I'm asking all my classmates to give what you can to help us make the 40th as special as it can possibly be by donating whatever you can to our noble cause to get us in a great venue.  Note that if we raise the money, we won't be selling tickets for entry, with all of the attendant headaches that brings.  It will be FREE FOR ALL - which we hope will increase participation over our 35th.

Many of you have indicated an enthusiastic willingness to give as much as $200 to support our efforts - I'm going to be calling all of you out.

For the legal stuff (sorry, I can't help it):

1. If we fail to meet our goal, the planing committee will use whatever is raised in its discretion to enhance the reunion; and

2. If we fail to meet our goal, anyone who has given $25 or more will receive 1 entry to the event (and no, you don't get 2 tickets for $50, it's a one-time shot only).

So there it is!  I hope you'll all contribute.  By the time you read this I already will have.

Dig deep, dig often.

See you next summer!
