Appeal for war orphans in Goma City, DRC Congo.
Spende geschützt
60 orphans, who have been cared for by WCA and IRFF, have had to escape the shelter, which was successfully built last year. They are now being housed by 20 families in the local area.
The North Kivu area of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been invaded by armies, supported by the Rwandan government. This includes the 1 million population town of Goma.
They have taken over completely and set up routes for the transfer of all goods from this mineral rich region.
In the foster families, because the men had to escape from being forced into the rebel army, the women are now alone to tend for the orphans and their own children.
They have a food emergency and prices are going up almost everyday.
Our WCA volunteers also had to escape by night and they are in a town 150 kilometres away. From there, they continue to organise a food programme for these families, who are being trained to start their own businesses, buying and selling food in the local markets.
Each family needs seed money of $150 to build this up, hence this appeal we are making now. Without this, it's very hard for them to survive.
All donations are very much appreciated!
Thank you!
