APPEAL FOR POPPY

To all of Poppy’s dear friends around the world,

With a heavy heart we need to inform you all that our sweet Poppy Popstar has been diagnosed with cancer.
She now needs to have urgent surgery next Friday (19 June 2020) to remove the rapidly growing cancer in her mammary glands.

We all know that Poppy is a survivor.  She is strong and resilient, and we want to ensure she continues to enjoy a wonderful quality of life following her horrific trauma as a pup.

As Poppy’s cancer surgery is urgent and unexpected, we’d like to appeal to all of her friends around the world if you’re able to make a small contribution to her surgery.

We’re grateful that Poppy’s vet has already reduced her medical fees.  So, our fundraising target aims to cover just her surgery, follow-up treatment and medications.

Of course, if Poppy’s medical fees are less than the amount raised in this appeal, all additional funds will be directly donated to Animals Fiji.

You can be assured that we will keep you informed of the next steps in Poppy’s medical treatment journey on this page and via her Facebook page.

Our heartfelt thanks for your love and continuing support for Poppy, our awesome Popstar!

A reminder about Poppy’s early life:

In 2012, a brutally injured little dog was found in Fiji.  Her nose had been cut off and she had suffered horrific injuries to her nose and ears.  For six months, she was cared for by the team at the Animals Fiji clinic in Nadi.

Despite having only basic facilities and limited medical supplies, Poppy survived.  Thanks to international support, in late 2012, Poppy was airlifted from Fiji to Australia in preparation for massive facial reconstruction surgery and a new life.

Poppy's journey was featured on Bondi Vet, and that’s where we also met her loving "forever" family who now live in Melbourne, Australia.  Wonderful people all around the world, just like you, have taken Poppy into their hearts.  Thank you for caring about this remarkable survivor, our dear Poppy!

Poppy’s story . . .

I was born somewhere in Fiji. I don't remember where but there were a lot of other dogs and we went hunting together. When my nose was chopped off, I was scared and in a lot of pain. I could not eat and I got very, very hungry and I thought I was going to die. Then the people at Animals Fiji found me. They are lovely. They gave me lots to eat and looked after me. When I was feeling better some friends from Australia came and fetched me, and that was when my amazing new life began. I got a new nose in Australia, and a new family who love me. Now I am safe and happy and have the best life in the world.
