Appeal for bone marrow transplant to save my son's life

Hello, my name is John Acheampong, and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my story.

Please help to save the life of my son, Johnson Acheampong by contributing to a life-saving bone marrow transplant. We live in Kumasi, Ghana.

Our world was turned upside down when our son, Johnson was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in November 2019 when he was 6 years old. Since then, he has been receiving chemotherapy treatment. After initial induction chemotherapy we were told the Bone Marrow Aspiration (BMA) report results after, had come back inconclusive. They continued with two consolidation treatments with two intensification phases to increase Johnson’s chances of going into remission.

After maintenance chemotherapy, an end of treatment BMA was performed on the 12th of January 2024 and it showed that unfortunately my son was not in remission. We were referred to another hospital and we were made aware that blood cell treatment had not been effective in his treatment. We would need to use a more expensive treatment in the form of Allogenic Bone Marrow Transplant. This treatment is not available in Ghana where we live. We were then referred to a transplant hospital in Bangalore, India and their initial estimation for further assessment with Chemotherapy followed by Allogenic Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) basic treatment was given as $50,000 (£39,000) with the following breakdown:

Evaluation - $700.00

Chemotherapy - $20,000

BMT - $26,000

Post treatment - $1500.00

We also have to find a match for the transplant and fund the extraction process as well as our travel, accommodation and living costs for as long as the treatment will take whilst in India which is beyond our means at this point.
