Help Appeal against Industrial Development -Redlynch Valley

Hi, my name is Janine and I’m raising funds to pay for legal assistance to help fight an Industrial Park in Redlynch Valley. The development land backs onto World Heritage listed rainforest and is known locally as ‘Cassowary Central’ due to the numerous sightings of these endangered birds. Situated on a road that dead ends at the iconic Crystal Cascades swimming holes, Redlynch Valley is a tranquil, remote, rural setting known for its swimming holes, walking tracks and rolling hills.

On the 12th March 2025 Cairns Regional Council approved Development Application 12781/2024, to rezone the land from rural to industrial and subdivide into several blocks. The application also changed the land from assessment to code assessed meaning any further development would not require community consultation. The property is situated on Redlynch Intake Rd which is already in a state of disrepair. Many children use the road to get to school. Currunda Ck runs through the property and flows into Freahwater Ck, with platypus sighted just meters down stream. There was an overwhelming uprising amongst residents against this application however it was still approved.

Please help us raise money to fight this application through the courts. All money will be used in the litigation process through the P&E court.

I lodging this appeal as an individual at great financial risk to myself. I am utilising the knowledge I have gained from my Bachelor of Science (Ecology) and Juris Doctor to put the necessary paperwork together
