GoFundMe for Katie Mendenhall, a self-employed permanent makeup artist in Billings who is widely known for her incredible work, professionalism, and the way she genuinely cares about people. If you know Katie, you know her reputation is outstanding—and so is her heart.
One year ago, on her 30th birthday, Katie was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Since then, she has endured chemotherapy, radiation, and internal radiation, fighting harder than anyone should ever have to.
If that wasn't enough, Katie is now battling severe pancreatitis. Over the last 3 months, she has been hospitalized for more than 5 weeks, is still extremely sick, and is completely exhausted. She currently relies on a feeding tube for nutrition and is struggling daily just to get through the basics.
Katie is a single mom to her daughter Edyn, a 7th grader with an enormous heart. Edyn has stepped up in ways no child should ever have to—offering to try to earn money to help her mom. That alone tells you the kind of mom Katie is and the kind of kid she's raising.
While trying to stay positive, the reality is heavy. She is unable to work consistently due to her health, and as a self-employed business owner, there is no paid leave. Medical bills, groceries, and everyday living expenses are piling up, and the stress of simply keeping a roof over their heads is very overwhelming, especially while fighting for her health.
Last Monday, Katie went in for a biopsy to rule out pancreatic cancer, but once in the operating room, the doctor determined the needle placement would be extremely risky and could cause serious damage, potentially putting her back in the hospital. The decision was made not to proceed. This leaves Katie with even more uncertainty, worry, and stress while she waits for answers. Doctors will continue closely monitoring her condition with MRIs and ongoing bloodwork.
Katie is far too proud to ask for help, but she needs it. She has spent her life helping others, supporting clients, friends, and this community. Now it's our turn to show up for her.
If you're able to donate, share, or even just send words of encouragement, it all matters more than you know. Let's help ease one burden so Katie can focus on what truly matters—healing and being there for Edyn.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting this incredible mama.
