This past summer, I went to Romania for a second time. In the midst of my time in Câmpina, I asked God for “a word” of direction. I then heard a quiet voice say “Stay.” After a week of searching, I had an answer for what I believed this meant. I decided I would finish the fall semester in Indianapolis and help create a smooth transition for the students I teach. Then, from January to July of 2019, I would go back to Romania and serve again with Mana Deschisa.

Mana Deschisa (Open Hand in Romanian) is connected with Open Hand Ministries globally and MOPS in America. The ministry teaches kids, serves young mothers, assists the homeless population, and sponsors many other services within their community.
I will be working with the rehabilitation program they run for vulnerable women recovering from addiction, prostitution, and homelessness. I will cook with the women, assist during work/project time, make crafts, and spend time with the women during the evenings/weekends by going for walks, playing games, and leading devotions. Additionally, I'll work with a local school. I’ll teach children who are in need of specialized services/English learning support.

I know that this journey may seem impulsive to some, and maybe it is. But I have prayed over this, sought out information, and ultimately, given it to God. This wild adventure is me stepping out in faith, believing in the One who calls us to abide or stay in Him.

I welcome any financial support you might be able to give, as well as your prayers and thoughts. Please pray for the women and children I will meet, the relationships that will be formed, the staff at Mana Deschisa, fundraising, and my readiness.
I am aiming to raise a total of $7,000 which works out to $800 a month and $600 for airfare.
