Espero que este año haya comenzado con buen pie para todas y todos.

Hoy me dirijo a ustedes para apelar a su solidaridad y apoyo en favor de mi abuela, Alba Ninfa Jirón, quien actualmente atraviesa una situación crítica de salud.

Mi abuela padece Insuficiencia Renal Crónica (IRC), Enfermedad Pulmonar Obstructiva Crónica (EPOC) y un problema cardíaco. En este momento, lo más delicado es la insuficiencia renal, ya que ha llegado a una etapa en la que requiere diálisis renal asistida para poder seguir con vida.

Como podrán imaginar, los costos asociados a su cuidado son muy altos: medicamentos, insumos médicos, equipos, atención especializada, además de garantizarle una alimentación adecuada y condiciones sociosanitarias dignas. Hasta ahora, estos gastos han sido cubiertos con el esfuerzo de los familiares que tenemos empleo. Somos una familia nicaragüense del campo y de recursos limitados, pero gracias al apoyo de quienes hemos migrado y enviamos remesas, hemos logrado sostener su tratamiento.

Nuestro compromiso con su bienestar continúa, pero hoy necesitamos ayuda adicional para poder adquirir una máquina de diálisis, indispensable para que mi abuela pueda recibir el tratamiento con la frecuencia necesaria y mantener su estado de salud lo más estable posible. El costo de esta máquina oscila entre USD 4,500 y USD 6,500, una suma que nos resulta muy difícil cubrir solos.

Por ello, les agradecemos profundamente cualquier aporte que puedan realizar. No importa si es pequeño, mediano o grande: todo suma y contribuirá a que mi abuela pueda seguir viviendo acompañada de su familia, aunque sea un tiempo más.

I hope this year has started off on the right foot for everyone. Today I am reaching out to you to appeal for your solidarity and support on behalf of my grandmother, Alba Ninfa Jirón, who is currently going through a critical health situation.

My grandmother suffers from Chronic Kidney Failure (CKD), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and a heart condition. At this moment, the most delicate issue is her kidney failure, as she has reached a stage where she requires assisted renal dialysis in order to stay alive.

As you can imagine, the costs associated with her care are very high: medications, medical supplies, equipment, specialized care, as well as ensuring proper nutrition and dignified socio-sanitary living conditions. Until now, these expenses have been covered by the efforts of family members who are employed. We are a Nicaraguan family from the countryside with limited resources, but thanks to the support of those of us who have migrated and send remittances, we have been able to sustain her treatment.

Our commitment to her well-being continues, but today we need additional help to be able to purchase a dialysis machine, which is essential for my grandmother to receive treatment with the necessary frequency and to keep her health as stable as possible. The cost of this machine ranges between USD 4,500 and USD 6,500, an amount that is very difficult for us to cover on our own.

For this reason, we deeply appreciate any contribution you may be able to make. It does not matter if it is small, medium, or large—everything helps and will contribute to my grandmother being able to continue living surrounded by her family, even if only for a little longer.
