Hola, soy Daniel, y escribo esto con el corazón hecho pedazos pero lleno de esperanza. Nunca imaginé tener que pedir ayuda de esta manera, pero hoy mi familia está enfrentando la batalla más dura de nuestras vidas… y ya no podemos solos.

Nuestro bebé, Liam, nació prematuro de 27 semanas y 2 días. Desde el primer instante, su vida ha sido una lucha constante por respirar, por crecer, por simplemente… quedarse con nosotros.

Liam no solo tiene displasia broncopulmonar (BPD) y hipertensión pulmonar, sino que además enfrenta:

• Falla respiratoria aguda con hipoxia e hipercapnia

• Necesidad de oxígeno 24/7

• Episodios en los que sus niveles de CO₂ se elevan peligrosamente

• Fatiga al comer, irritabilidad y dificultad para respirar incluso en reposo

Cada diagnóstico es una batalla. Cada día es un milagro.

Vivimos a una hora y cuarenta minutos aproximadamente, lejos del hospital de donde él recibe la atención que le salva la vida. Mi esposa pasa la mayor parte del tiempo allí, mientras yo me divido entre estar en el hospital, cuidar a nuestro otro hijo, manejar la casa y tratar de mantener un trabajo que ya no puedo sostener a tiempo completo. Estamos viviendo partidos, agotados y sobreviviendo como podemos.

Pero lo más doloroso es que esta distancia nos obliga a estar separados como familia: nuestro hijo mayor está lejos de su mamá y de su hermano, y Liam necesita que estemos con él… cada día, cada hora.

Necesitamos mudarnos para estar cerca del hospital. Necesitamos estar juntos para poder cuidar a nuestros dos hijos sin que la distancia nos siga rompiendo. Pero mudarnos significa que perderé mi empleo actual y tendré que empezar desde cero. Y la verdad es que el tratamiento de Liam es por tiempo indefinido. No sabemos cuánto tiempo dependerá del oxígeno, de especialistas y de hospitalizaciones recurrentes. Puede ser meses… o años.

Por eso pido ayuda, con toda la humildad y el corazón abierto.

Los fondos que logremos reunir serán utilizados para:

• Asegurar un hogar (depósito, mudanza, primer mes de alquiler)

• Servicios básicos para poder establecernos

• Transporte y citas médicas constantes

• Gastos esenciales mientras consigo un nuevo trabajo

• Lo necesario para que Liam continúe su tratamiento sin interrupciones

• Mantenernos como familia unida en este proceso que no sabemos cuánto durará

Como padre, uno quiere ser fuerte. Uno quiere cargar el mundo si hace falta. Pero hay momentos en los que la vida te obliga a aceptar que la única forma de seguir es dejando que otros te ayuden a sostener el peso.

Hello, my name is Daniel, and I’m writing this with a heart broken into pieces, yet full of hope. I never imagined having to ask for help this way, but today my family is facing the toughest battle of our lives… and we can’t do it alone anymore.

Our baby, Liam, was born premature at 27 weeks and 2 days. From the very first moment, his life has been a constant fight to breathe, to grow, to simply… stay with us.

Liam not only has bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and pulmonary hypertension, but he is also facing:

• Acute respiratory failure with hypoxia and hypercapnia

• The need for oxygen 24/7

• Episodes where his CO₂ levels rise dangerously

• Fatigue while eating, irritability, and difficulty breathing even at rest

Every diagnosis is a battle. Every day is a miracle.

We live about an hour and forty minutes away from the hospital where he receives the care that keeps him alive. My wife spends most of her time there, while I divide myself between being at the hospital, taking care of our other child, managing the home, and trying to maintain a job I can no longer keep full time. We are living split apart, exhausted, and surviving however we can.

But the most painful part is that this distance forces us to be separated as a family: our older son is far from his mom and his brother, and Liam needs us with him… every day, every hour.

We need to move closer to the hospital. We need to be together so we can care for both of our children without distance continuing to break us. But moving means I will lose my current job and will have to start from scratch. And the truth is that Liam’s treatment is for an indefinite amount of time. We don’t know how long he will depend on oxygen, specialists, and recurring hospitalizations. It could be months… or years.

That’s why I’m asking for help, with all humility and an open heart.

The funds we manage to raise will be used for:

• Securing a home (deposit, move-in costs, first month’s rent)

• Basic services so we can settle in

• Transportation and constant medical appointments

• Essential expenses while I find a new job

• Everything Liam needs to continue his treatment without interruptions

• Keeping our family together during this process that we don’t know how long will last

As a father, you want to be strong. You want to carry the world if you have to. But there are moments when life forces you to accept that the only way to keep going is by letting others help you carry the weight.
