Saludos, 

mi nombre es Karina González Plata, también conocidx como DJ Perra Mística. He decidido realizar esta campaña dado a que mi amigue Elmer Marrero se ha quedado durante este mes sin hogar dado a una emergencia médica. Su red de apoyo y soporte desistió - y dejo de pagar la renta compartida - mientras Elmer tomaba tratamientos para su estado de salud mental, quedándoselos así sin casa. Dado a que mi amigue es una compañera cuir / queer, sus habilidades para mantenerse en un espacio alternativo familiar son no existentes ya que estas condiciones no favorables atrasan e impiden su bienestar psicológico, emocional y espiritual. Considerando su sexualidad diversa y su estado de recuperación mental actual, mi amigue está en peligro de ser sometido a procesos legales y psicológicos perjudiciales para su bienestar como persona si permanece en el hogar de su familia tradicional (hago mención de esto por la manera en que la ley permite someter a ciertas personas a procesos inhumanos bajo la justificación de "tratamientos psicológicos").

Mientras estamos en una cuarentena por un virus sin precedentes (el COVID-19), sufriendo condiciones ya de por sí precarias por la falta de apoyo financiero, emocional y energético a persones cuir/queer, no binaries y trans, mi amigue se ha quedado sin un hogar. Es por esto que les pedimos su ayuda. 

Determinamos que sus necesidades durante esta emergencia serían las siguientes (considerando que no se trata solo de un techo, sino de un techo seguro, con accesibilidad y recursos): 

1. Alquiler de un apartamento cercano a sus citas médicas bimensuales = $6, 500.00 (Fianza del primer mes + 1 año por contrato) 

2. Materiales para su aseo personal = $300.00 (periodo de 1 año)

3. Comida / alimentación = $780.00 (periodo de 6 meses) 

4. Transportación a citas médicas = $360.00. (periodo de 6 meses)

5. Deducibles / gastos médicos = $280.00 (periodo de 6 meses) 

6. Agua y luz = $300.00 (periodo de 6 meses basado en el consumo mínimo) 

7. Teléfono celular con acceso al internet = $240.00 (periodo de 6 meses)

8. Materiales de auto-cuido y reserva para el futuro = $200.00

TOTAL = $8, 960.00 USD 

Hemos incluido en la campaña las aproximaciones más reales para las deducciones que nos haría GO FUND ME, las cuales se basan en el 2.9% + 0.30 por donación. 

El GRAN TOTAL =  $244 + $179.30 = 423.30 + $8,960.00 = $9, 383.30 USD 

Los cálculos son hechos a base de consumo mínimo y considerando que Elmer necesita continuar asistiendo a sus citas médicas para mejorar y salir de cualquier situación emocional o particular que le impida auto-gestionarse. Aceptamos cualquier tipo de donación extra a través de otras plataformas, como también le damos la bienvenida a cualquier recurso disponible que haya para Elmer durante esta etapa. Sin excluir, la invitación a permanecer en algún hogar solidario. Aún así, reconocemos que las necesidades económicas son y serán otras también.

Dado a que todo esto acaba de ocurrir y Elmer no puede depender de otros directamente para tener lo que necesita durante estos momentos, les pedimos que donen lo más pronto posible o que, mínimo, compartan esta campaña por todas las redes sociales posibles. Díganle a sus amistades, sus familiares, sus compañeros de trabajo. Solo con un poco llegaríamos lejos y regar la voz SÍ hace la diferencia. 

Para dar contexto, Elmer estudió conmigo en la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras. Nos conocimos una tarde en el año 2015 frente al Programa de Estudios de la Mujer y Género (PEMG), de la cual ambas fuimos parte. Es una persona generosa, especial, paciente y sumamente inteligente. Siempre ha estado ahí en mis momentos más difíciles, transgresores y buenos también. El tipo de persona que es Elmer no la encontramos todos los días en el mundo. Obtuvo su bachillerato y maestría en la UPR, precisamente en asuntos relacionados a la psicología y la consejería. Es un ser que quiere ayudar, estar a la disposición y entablar sensibilidad en las comunicaciones con los demás. Es pionerx en ayudar a los más necesitados, en todos los aspectos.  Es apenas hoy que se encuentra en una situación así de la cual quisiéramos pueda salir lo más pronto posible. Les pido su solidaridad, entendimiento y apoyo. Que Elmer sepa que nos tenemos y, aunque el mundo no da vueltas por dinero, es esta su más importante necesidad luego del apoyo que le podamos dar como comunidad y corillx.

Nuevamente, si conocen de recursos para persones cuir/queer/trans/no-binaries en la Isla, estamos al pendiente. Hacemos además un llamado a todas las personas con poderes, capital simbólico y político (incluyendo a candidatxs a la gobernación) que no olviden y echen de lado que la comunidad cuir y trans es una de las más afectadas actualmente en la colonia, que aún ocurren crímenes de odio, desalojos de residencias, trabajos y familias, exclusión social, emocional y psicológica de parte del estado y de la sociedad. Todo esto se puede y debe evitar. Las personas cuir/queer/no-binaries/trans en la calle, corremos más riesgos. Hacemos un llamado también a honrar la memoria de Alexa y a movilizar todo lo posible como país para evitar circunstancias así.

I have decided to carry out this campaign because my very loved friend Elmer Marrero has become homeless during this month due to a medical emergency. His support network gave up - and stopped paying shared rent - while Elmer was taking treatments for his mental health state. Since my friend is a cuir/queer person, their skills to stay in a family owned space are none as these are unfavorable conditions and can delay and impede their psychological, emotional and spiritual well-being. Considering their diverse sexuality and current state of mental recovery, my friend is in danger of being subjected to legal and psychological processes detrimental to his well-being as a person if they remain in the home of his traditional family - which they already managed to get out from - (I mention this in reference to the way the law allows certain people to be subjected to inhumane processes under the justification of psychological treatment).
 
 
While we are quarantined by an unprecedented virus (COVID-19), suffering already precarious conditions due to the lack of financial, emotional and energetic support to cuir/queer, non-binary and trans folks in Puerto Rico my friend has been left homeless. That's why we ask for your help. 
 
We determine that their needs would be as follows (considering that it is not just a roof what they will need, but a secure roof, with accessibility and resources):
 
1. Renting an apartment in an area close to their bi-monthly  medical appointments = $6, 500.00 (First Month Deposit + 1 Year per Contract)
 
2. Materials for their personal grooming = $300.00 (1-year period)
 
3. Food / Meals - $780.00 (6-month period)
 
4. Transportation to medical appointments = $360.00 (6-month period)
 
5. Deductiblesn/ Medical Expenses = $280.00 (6-month period)
 
6. Water & electricity = $300.00 (6-month period based on minimum consumption)
 
7. Cell phone with internet access = $240.00 (6-month period)
 
8. Self-care and booking materials for the future = $200.00
 
TOTAL - $8, 960.00 USD
 
We have included in the campaign the most real approximations for the deductions that GO FUND ME would make for these donations, which are based on 2.9% + 0.30 per donation.

All of these calculations are made based on minimum consumption and living conditions in Puerto Rico. Elmer needs to continue attending his medical appointments to improve and get out of any emotional or particular situation that prevents him from self-managing. We accept any type of extra donation through other platforms, as we also welcome any available resources available to Elmer during this stage. Without excluding, the invitation to remain in some foster home (someone willing to open their doors to them, for example). Still, we recognize that economic needs are and will be different and of importance just as well.

Since all this has just happened and Elmer cannot rely on others directly to have what they need right now, we ask them to donate as soon as possible or to share this campaign on all possible social networks. Tell your friends, your family and your co-workers. Only with a little donated by every one of you that reads this and resonates with our energy, we go far. Using your voice can and will make a difference. 

To give context, Elmer studied with me at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. We met one afternoon in 2015 in front of the Women and Gender Studies Program (PEMG), of which we were both a part of. They are a generous, special, patient and extremely intelligent person. They have always been there in my toughest, most transgressive and good times too. The kind of person Elmer is, we don't find every day in the world. They earned their bachelor's and master's degrees from the UPR, precisely in matters related to psychology and counseling. They are a being who wants to help, be available and make sensitivity a priority in their communications with others. They are a pioneer in helping those most in need, in all aspects.  It is only today that they are in a situation like this and that we would like them to be able to leave as soon as possible. I ask for your solidarity, understanding and support. Let Elmer know that we have us and, although the world doesn't go around because of money, this is their most important need after the support we can give him as a community and corillx.

Again, if you know of resources for cuir/queer/trans/non-binary people on the island, we are on the lookout and willing to receive. We also call upon all people with powers, symbolic and political capital (including candidates to the governorship) to not forget or cast aside that the cuir and trans community is one of the most affected today in the colony, who still suffer hate crimes, evictions from residences, jobs and families, social, emotional and psychological exclusion from the state and society. All of this can and should be avoided. Cuir/queer/non-binary/trans and people of color on the streets, suffer more risks. We also make a call to honor Alexa's memory by mobilizing as much as possible as a country to avoid circumstances like these in the near future.
