Hace dos semanas, nuestro papá, Rubén Eduardo Ruiz, fue diagnosticado inesperadamente con leucemia linfoblástica aguda (LLA), un cáncer poco común y agresivo de la sangre y la médula ósea. Desde entonces, ha estado hospitalizado y ya ha comenzado quimioterapia intensiva.

Rubén no es solo nuestro papá: es un esposo cariñoso, un proveedor y un gran amigo. Es el tipo de hombre que siempre está ahí para los demás con una broma. Su sentido del humor lo caracteriza, así como su buen corazón, siempre dispuesto a ayudar a los demás, y ahora es nuestra oportunidad de ayudarlo a él.

Rubén vive en Hellertown, Pensilvania, con su esposa Wendy y sus dos hijas pequeñas, Isabella (14) y Annabella (9). También tiene tres hijos adultos: Harold, Valeria y Karen, quienes están ayudando a conseguir apoyo durante estos momentos difíciles.

Hasta hace poco, Rubén trabajaba en una fábrica de agua. Fue obligado a dejar de trabajar por un tiempo, probablemente al menos 6 meses, mientras recibe tratamiento y se concentra en su recuperación. Wendy, una maestra dedicada, está en casa durante el verano cuidando de él y de las niñas, mientras trabaja a tiempo parcial para ayudar a cubrir los gastos básicos.

La carga financiera ya es abrumadora. Entre las facturas del hospital, el viaje al hospital de Filadelfia, la pérdida de ingresos y los gastos del hogar, la situación se acumula rápidamente. Nos hemos fijado la meta de ayudar a mantener su hogar a flote durante este tiempo y permitir que Ruben se concentre en su recuperación, sin preocuparse por las facturas.

HELP RUBEN RUIZ FIGHT LEUKEMIA AND SUPPORT HIS FAMILY

Two weeks ago our dad, Ruben Eduardo Ruiz, was unexpectedly diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL) –a rare and aggressive cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Since then, he’s been hospitalized and has already begun intensive chemotherapy.

Ruben is not just our dad –he is a loving husband, a provider, a great friend. He’s the kind of man who always shows up for others with a joke. His sense of humor characterizes him, as well as his kind heart –always willing to help others and now is our chance to help him.

Ruben lives in Hellertown, PA with his wife Wendy and their two young daughters, Isabella (14) and Annabella (9). He also has three adult children –Harold, Valeria, and Karen –who are helping rally support during this difficult time.

Until recently, Ruben worked at a local water factory. He’s been forced to stop working for the foreseeable future –likely at least 6 months –as he undergoes treatment and focuses on healing. Wendy, a dedicated teacher, is home for the summer taking care of him and the girls, while also working part-time to help cover basic bills.

The financial burden is already overwhelming. Between hospital bills, travel, lost income, and household expenses, things are adding up fast. Our goal is to help keep their household afloat during this time and allow Ruben to focus on getting well –not worrying about bills.
