(See english version below)
Me llamo Javier Silva.
- Medicamentos (4 meses pasados + próximos 6 meses): MXN $190,000 / USD $11,000
- Detalle mensual: Concor $943, Sintrom $610, Dorixina $316, Pregabalina $126, Palexia $2,620 x6, Paracetamol $100 x6, Neurobion $420, Ácido Lipoico $364 → total aprox. $19,000 MXN al mes
- 4 meses ya cubiertos: $76,000 MXN + 6 meses por venir: $114,000 MXN = $190,000 MXN
- Radioterapia, fase 1 (completada): MXN $1,200,000 / USD $69,600
- $80,000 MXN x 15 sesiones
- Radioterapia, fase 2: MXN $1,200,000 / USD $69,600
- $80,000 MXN x 15 sesiones
- Meta total: MXN $6,590,000 / USD $382,000
Javier

Give Javier Back His Focus: Help Him Walk and Create Again
My name is Javier Silva. I’m 34 years old, an artist and photographer from Mexico City. In March 2026, after a fall led me to see a doctor, I was diagnosed with a large tumor (metastatic melanoma) that destroyed my third vertebra by infiltrating it, also affecting my spinal cord and nerves. Because of this, I haven’t been able to walk, sit, or do the work that has defined my life: painting and taking photographs.
This isn’t the first time cancer has touched my life. I’ve already been through two open heart surgeries to remove two separate tumors on different occasions. Because of that history, my insurance doesn’t cover the costs of my current treatment, and my family has had to carry the full financial weight of my care alone.
Over these past four months I’ve lived with strong, constant pain that can only be managed with very expensive medication. I’ve already completed the first phase of radiation and have been on immunotherapy for four months, which helped contain the tumor and shrink it slightly, enough to plan a first surgery that will replace the damaged discs in my spine and straighten it. But there’s still a long road ahead: a second phase of radiation and immunotherapy, and possibly a second surgery to remove the tumor completely.
Unable to work or keep up my previous life in Mexico City, I had to leave my apartment at the worst possible time. I now live with my mom, who has cared for me day and night, every single day. I’ve also been paying out of pocket for the pain medication that gets me through each day, a cost I expect to keep facing for several more months.
Every donation goes directly toward helping me get through this next year of treatment, easing the burden on my family, and ultimately helping me stand up, walk, and pick up a camera again. Where the money will go:
- Medication (past 4 months + next 6 months): MXN $190,000 / USD $11,000
- Monthly breakdown: Concor $943, Sintrom $610, Dorixina $316, Pregabalina $126, Palexia $2,620 x6, Paracetamol $100 x6, Neurobion $420, Alpha Lipoic Acid $364 → approx. total $19,000 MXN per month
- 4 months already covered: $76,000 MXN + 6 months ahead: $114,000 MXN = $190,000 MXN
- Radiation, phase 1 (completed): MXN $1,200,000 / USD $69,600
- $80,000 MXN x 15 sessions
- Immunotherapy (ongoing, includes two medications): MXN $3,000,000 / USD $173,900
- $150,000 MXN per month x 20 months
- Back surgery to replace damaged discs: MXN $1,000,000 / USD $58,000 (approximate)
- Radiation, phase 2: MXN $1,200,000 / USD $69,600
- $80,000 MXN x 15 sessions
- Total goal: MXN $6,590,000 / USD $382,000
(Converted to USD at an approximate exchange rate of 17.25 MXN per dollar, August 2026. The actual exchange rate varies day to day.)
This total doesn’t include a possible future surgery to remove the remaining tumor, which I’ll add once this first phase of treatment is complete.
If you’re able to donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart: every peso and every dollar brings me closer to walking, painting, and taking photographs again. If you can’t donate, sharing my story with your community means just as much to me. I’ll post updates here as my treatment progresses.
With much love,
Javier
